One of Grand Rapids’ most cherished annual holiday experiences is back for 2019: The 35th annual Beneath the Wreath will take place November 8-9 at the Cultural Center at St. Nicholas on East Paris in Grand Rapids.
This year’s show features over 40 juried exhibitors. Returning exhibitors include Cellar Door Preserves, James and Alice, Loveable Lobes and more. New for 2019 is 3D Grace, a young female entrepreneur specializing in laser cut earrings. [Preview some of the items on Instagram]
The Junior League of Grand Rapids organizes the annual Beneath the Wreath shopping event, from which 100% of ticket sales and 15% of total exhibitor sales fund the Junior League’s charitable projects.
The Junior League is an international organization that trains women in nonprofit leadership and the Grand Rapids chapter focuses on projects that improve children’s physical health.
In support of its mission, the Junior League of Grand Rapids runs three programs: Backpack Buddies, which provides weekend meals in partnership with the YMCA to children who qualify for free or reduced-rate school lunches during the week; Kids in the Kitchen, which educates children and their families about healthy food and fitness; and the Junior League Wellness Adventure Yards, which are specialized play spaces designed to promote cooperation, risk-taking, and teamwork among local youth.
Last year’s Beneath the Wreath shopping event was a huge success! They raised over $59,000 for the league’s programs that tackle local childhood food insecurity and that give children a safe place to play.
If a Sip and Shop experience makes you merry and bright, there will be an annual favorite wine, beer, and holiday shopping event with open shopping hours that continue through Saturday, November 9.
The beloved Junior League cookbooks will be available for purchase throughout the weekend, as well as a variety of sweet treats at the event’s “Café Noël.”
On Saturday morning, November 9, you may have a personal visit with St. Nick himself! Snap a selfie with Santa and enjoy a delicious holiday cookie. Beneath the Wreath concludes on Saturday afternoon with the drawings for the popular Wreath Raffle. Over a dozen spectacularly decorated and donated collectible wreaths will be available for bids via raffle tickets during both days of the event.
